Independent rancher Steve Logan and his comrade Jim Cardwell have brought his cattle to Abilene. Both have to conclude, however, that a shadowy syndicate keeps the price for the cattle artificially very low. Logan decides the price himself, but soon finds himself in conflict with the powerful cattle baron Ballard, the leader of the syndicate. Meanwhile, Logan falls in love with Chris Prentice, the daughter of a man killed by the gunfighter Chango, hired by Ballard.
