Sokol Ga Nije Volio plot

"Sokol Did Not Love Him"

The story takes place in Ladimirevci, a small rural village in eastern Croatia in 1943. Landowner Sima must maneuver between the Partisan movement and the Ustasha regime to save the life of his son Beneš, who has joined the German army. Sima hides his son in the attic because he does not want to let him fight on the wrong side, but also does not want to hand him over to the Partisans. At the same time, he tries to tame a proud stallion named Sokol, who only listens to Beneš and clearly does not like Sima.
