Füsilier Wipf plot

End of July, 1914. After the assassination of the Austrian heir to the throne Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo, Austria and Germany declare war on Serbia and a few days later on its allies the Soviet Union and France. The Swiss Federal Army is deployed to protect the borders of Switzerland. The shy hairdresser's apprentice Reinold Wipf (Paul Hubschmid) also has to serve. He learns this after Rosa (Elsie Attenhofer), the daughter of his teacher Wiederkehr (Emil Hegetschweiler), has declared his love for him. After four years of service, Reinold has grown into a responsible, confident soldier.
