The agricultural crisis of the 1980s drives the Frost family to drug smuggling across the Arkansas River. By 1992, the family has split into two camps, but Lucas (Billy Magnussen) wants to retire and start a family with his fiancée (Alexandra Shipp). When she is killed in a robbery gone wrong, suspicion immediately falls on cousins Sid (James Badge Dale) and Eli (Jared Bankens). Revenge! And Lucas' half-brother Tuck (Nick Stahl) must help him. It largely follows the format of a revenge/crime film, but benefits from strong work by Magnussen and has a thrilling resolution.

The title says it all: things don't end well for most of the characters in this typical indie American crime drama. The film is atmospherically shot with solid performances from the entire cast, but the plot and dialogue are mediocre, making it hard to stand out. However, there's plenty of raw violence and unpleasant situations.
