The Wrong Woman plot

Melanie Brook makes such a scene with her unfaithful boyfriend that she is convicted of assault. She then goes out of town to start over in Philadelphia. At her new job, Melanie's relationship with her superior Margaret is cool. However, her boss, Tom Henley, invites her to his home. Tom's rendezvous is watched by private detective Slide at the behest of his wife. After Melanie leaves the house, Slide sees Tom and the suddenly turned up Margaret get into a huge fight. Tom is murdered and suspicion falls on Melanie.
