Halbe Miete plot
The brilliant computer hacker Peter, who is about to take a big hit with the sale of very valuable data, runs headlong when his paranoid wife - intentionally or not - is drowned in the bath. He can't stay in a hotel without a passport, so he breaks into the apartments of absent residents. His first victim is a crimi scriptwriter, whose notes he cleverly rearranges. A few flights down, he foams through the house of a lone worker, whom he lends a hand with his games of chess-against-himself. Another favorite place to stay is the spotless apartment of a lonely young woman with a cleaning obsession. Meanwhile, he tries to sell his hijacked computer files. The film focuses more and more on Peter's interventions in the spaces of others, with whom he develops a strange bond.
