Abby Vandenbrink is an employee at Davidson’s Jewelers, an upscale boutique in Chicago. She learned her trade from her maternal grandfather, who still owns the jewelry store in Antwerp’s Diamond District, the closest she’s ever felt to a physical home in her life. She wants to be a designer like her grandfather, but she’s caught in a quandary with her introverted boss, Nadia Davidson. Abby makes a trip back to Antwerp after learning from the bank that her recently widowed grandfather is significantly behind on a loan, never the businessman in the business dealings that were always handled by her grandmother.
