Heartbreak plot

Prior to the United States' entry into World War I, John Merrick and Jerry Somers were attachés to the United States Embassy in Vienna. Both attend a large fundraiser run by the aristocratic Walden family. In a tent, John and Jerry can buy a chance to kiss the owner of a dainty perfumed glove; the proceeds go to the war. John enters the tent and is happily met by the beautiful Countess Vilma Walden, whom he has recently met. A romance soon develops between John and Vilma. One day, Captain Wolke, a friend of the Walden family, arrives and proves to be both a rival for Vilma's affections and a hot-headed warmonger.
