Enchantment plot

Ethel Hoyt is a beautiful, rich girl who is completely introverted. She brags in her diary that she can charm men better than Cleopatra could in her day, and how she has turned the heads of six Harvard seniors. She is condescending towards her parents and treats them like a bunch of clueless old objects. However, her father devises a plan to 'tame' his wayward daughter. He hires an actor friend after seeing him in 'The Taming of the Shrew'. He persuades the actor to launch an amateur play in which Ethel will play the leading role and which will humiliate her publicly.
