"it's eerie! it's cheery!"
Elinor Bentley Fairchild is a beautiful wealthy widow. The last three men she was engaged to and who she wanted to marry, all died violently. She becomes the target of a scandal. On the advice of her aunt, she is now engaged to the engineer Lucky Downing for a month to break the curse. But Lucky also has to deal with an attempt on his life.
