"Lurking FINGERS of DEATH reached out of the dim and ghostly past!"
Police Inspector Trent is asked to investigate the murder of Edward Arnold. Young doctor David Marsh insists that Edward Arnold died of natural causes. The Arnold family is said to be cursed, so Trent remains suspicious. Trent's suspicions are confirmed when the victim is indeed poisoned. In addition, this poisoned person is not Edward Arnold but one John Fry. But who poisoned Fry, and why? Trent's prime suspects are Japanese butler Kono, Arnold's beautiful mistress Janet Holt, Fry's lawyer Howard B. Smith, and Fry's widow Mavis.
