Backfire plot

"Before the night is over... someone will be rich, someone will be dead, someone will be avenged."

Donny McAndrew is haunted by his wartime past in Vietnam. At night he is kept awake by the sound of machine guns and explosions. It seems like a nightmare, also for his wife Mara, who shows anything but understanding for the situation. After only wanting Donny's fortune, she and her lover Jake hatch a plan to drive Donny mad in the hope that he kills himself.
