I had been looking forward to this movie so much.

Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment.

This film certainly should not be rated 16+.

For the first half hour, there wasn't a single jump scare or any horror to be found.

Too bad, because the film only lasts 77 minutes.

After the first half hour, some tension and a small storyline finally enter the film.

But unfortunately, the jump scares aren't executed well enough, and you only get a scare once in the film. The only positive point I have for the film is the surprising ending and the good trailer. Because, honestly, the trailer is a whole lot better than the film itself.

I have some advice for you: don't spend your money on this film. Unless it is your very first horror film, then the film is perfect.

Strange.

Not so much bad, but not great either.

A fairly simple little horror movie with an okay story. Ryan acted quite well, by the way, and I did laugh a few times, perhaps unintentionally, at his lines and behavior. I did find myself getting thoroughly annoyed by Cassidy, with her death being the highlight.

I found the ending a bit confusing, especially because Pfeiffer acts pretty reasonably normal throughout the entire film.

All in all, a decent movie. Not outstanding, but certainly one of the better Found Footage films.

3*

Somewhat weak found footage horror film.

Despite quite a few low reviews, I put this movie on anyway. I am a huge horror fan myself, although I don't spend a dramatic amount of time on it

The Gallows starts off well in my opinion, nicely developing an atmosphere about a poor boy who gets into an accident during a theater show. With a realistic wink, which allowed me to keep my attention on it.

We are introduced to a few main characters, including a very nice handsome guy who keeps filming; secretly, I can't help but chuckle at his antics. But the character named "Reese" had better quit. That guy isn't exactly great, is he?

The theatrical spirit was exciting at times, but when it really kicked in, it was very weak. It is suspenseful at times throughout the film, but with an overwhelming section, the cast is still weak. Much more could have been made of this.
