It's quite amazing how a reasonable film can be made with few resources. The story is actually the weak point, and lacks the substance to remain exciting enough throughout the entire playing time. But especially in the beginning the atmosphere is really good, very oppressive and gloomy. The makers are clearly influenced by the Wolfenstein genre.

Nicely acted, by the way, I think the bad guy in particular makes quite an impression. To male.

Digestible meat.

For those who avoid the synopsis smartly enough, there is a nice horror film in store. In any case, if you have any prior knowledge, the exciting intro will fall flat. The story is very simple, but nevertheless quite digestible. Once it becomes clear to the viewer what kind of meat they are dealing with, a slightly lesser second half awaits.

Reasonable.

Nazis who want to conquer the world with the help of the occult. It's a theme used in more horror films. They are often films of the trashy kind. And this one is no exception. In principle, it all seems to be not too bad. The first 20 minutes are atmospheric and excitingly staged as two New Zealand soldiers are dropped on an island, have to cross a minefield and enter a gloomy fortress from which wailing screams can be heard. Not bad.
However, the secret is revealed too soon and the film is stripped of its mysterious sting. That mysterious angel is also designed in a rather classic and childish manner. A demon in human form. Red colored with horns. Well. The only exciting potential left then lies in the analysis of the relationship between the two protagonists who distrust each other. A Nazi and a New Zealander. Two enemies who must work together to ward off the devilish danger. The conflict is not drawn out very intensely. Both characters are also modeled too black and white for that. That potential also quickly dies.
What speaks for the film is that there is always a certain level of entertainment present. There is a strange atmosphere that intrigues and prevents boredom from setting in. I can't really explain it well. That's a good thing about a film from which there isn't much joy to be had.
