The Breach plot

Counting down his last days as chief of police in the small town of Lone Crow, John Hawkins investigates a strange case involving a mutilated body. The find shakes up the town, and local coroner Jacob Redgrave suspects the remains of a missing physicist. This forces Hawkins to rethink old ties to his ex, Meg Fullbright. She takes him and Redgrave to the physicist's rented house, where he conducted secret research deep in the woods. In the decaying house they find a strange machine in the attic. A device with a mind of its own.
