Medusa plot
In a Brazilian city ruled by the evangelical church, young men and women are forced to inflict harsh sentences on those who do not adhere to strict standards. The 'Treasure of the Altar' is a women's group that keeps their own gender in line in this way. Nursing student Bia is injured when a woman is punished and the scars make her lose her job at a beauty salon. She takes a job in a nursing home that takes care of comatose patients. There, Bia encounters Melissa, a victim of the 'Treasures'.

Previously, a user described that Medusa cannot be pushed into a certain corner and I can actually agree with that. It is difficult to call this film by director Anita Rocha da Silveira a genre work, but that makes it a lot more interesting as a whole. Of course, the basic religious concept is already gold and the film is not made on a larger scale or more spectacular than necessary, and the young cast also performs more than decently. It's a pity that the playing time of almost 130 minutes turns out to be too drawn out, which means that the middle section certainly starts to drag a bit. The entire piece in the nursing home is relatively interchangeable and only towards the finale does Medusa gain strength again. Fortunately, visually colorful enough to stand out, although they could certainly have gone a step further with the sound in the party scenes. Nevertheless, the end result is unique and unpredictable enough to earn a passing grade.
