Espiritismo plot

A festive meal takes a gloomy turn when Louis and Mary Howard attend a seance. Their host, medium Elvira, warns the couple that April 8 will mark the beginning of a tragic period in their lives, and warns them of an encounter with non-human beings who possess extraordinary powers. The date in question is just their 20th wedding anniversary, and at the end of the evening of celebration, their son, Rodolpho, asks them for a $4,000 loan to finance a new business venture. Shortly afterwards, a first tragedy sets in, and the previously skeptical Mary begins to fear more and more for their future.
