Beforehand, you might think that the monster on the poster would be a real dampener for the film itself. If you thought that (like me), you're right. Director Danny Draven brings an incredibly clumsy and boringly designed creature to life in a film that is not at all as bad as you would expect. Dark Walker takes place in an amusement park and the design of the background is therefore more than successful. Charming details and fun décor make for a pretty fun spectacle, even if the teenagers wandering through are anything but interesting. Draven benefits from a fairly bad approach by making frequent use of all kinds of clichés, but also ignoring them just as clumsily. The trick in which a certain figure is attacked and then a bucket of blood is smashed against the wall starts to lose its flair after a while, but the whole thing is quite contagious and doesn't last a minute too long. The final horror is of course a shame, but it is clear that people worked on the film with a genuine love for the genre in question. In any case, the latter provides crass entertainment despite a major lack of quality.
