Bad Dreams plot
"When Cynthia wakes up. She'll wish she were dead..."
Cynthia is the sole survivor of a mass suicide committed by a religious cult to which she belonged. Thirteen years later, she awakens from her coma and begins group therapy, but soon she is plagued by horrific nightmares about Harris, the dead leader of the cult.

Mediocre film in which a woman undergoes group therapy after waking up from a coma after 13 years. The already poor story is rather repetitive, especially during the first half. The second part is a bit better. A few entertaining horror scenes and quite atmospheric here and there. This directorial debut by Andrew Flemming is not really representative of the rest of his career.

Remarkably nice.
Normally I don't like these kinds of cheap horror films. In terms of execution, I continue to find these films to be rather simple films without a heart or visible passion. However, Bad Dreams knows that, and is therefore clearly one of the more fun films to watch within its kind.
Lately, more and more trashy films have been released that I seem to like. Scarecrows was already one, but now also this Bad Dreams. The effect is simply much more lively and soon in the opening the film makes it clear that things are very wrong. The beginning is quite bombastic and is certainly worth it.
The acting is nothing to write home about, but I actually thought the role of lead actress Rubin was quite doable. No one is perfect, but every character has heart and substance. Moreover, the environment in which they find themselves is also very intriguing. Not original, but fun. I prefer these types of environments to just another forest environment or log cabin.
The murders are perhaps kept out of the picture a little too much, but the atmosphere and tone are sometimes good. In particular, there is a murder with a certain blood shower. Some nice things are done, and director Fleming puts a lot of emphasis on tension. In a strange way, he sometimes manages to do that quite well.
Bad Dreams is not without its negatives, but I left the film with a positive impression. I was well entertained, and what's more, the film lasts no longer than an hour and a half. Nice murders, enough atmosphere and a nice effect. I have missed these types of films within this genre for a long time in my life. Nice to see that they are still there.

Jennifer Rubin what a woman her eyes are like a deep lake I want to drown in. She also has a great look and carries this film with verve.
Furthermore, this movie doesn't have much in it, 3 stars. Well made but few new ideas that you haven't seen yet.
