Poruchik Kizhe plot
Lieutenant Kije is best known in the music world for Sergey Prokofiev's Suite and is based on the book by Yuri Tynyanov. The film is set during the regime of the frivolous Tsar Paul I. Problems arise when a maid's scream wakes the Tsar from his sleep. To save the maid, they blame a made-up member of the military staff. The evil Tsar decides to banish this fictional officer to Siberia. He later reconsiders and appoints the ghost soldier as commander-in-chief of the army.
