Birney's first solo film. Made on a shoestring budget (or at least that's how it looks). I thought it was decently made, but in my opinion, it has serious shortcomings.

It takes over an hour (ONE HOUR!) for Conor to finally disappear into the game. Unfortunately, the game world is just a forest with some fun twists and turns, but I never really felt like I was in a game.

The tension...it's nonexistent. A sort of soul-sucking villain is posited, but you wouldn't think there's any real danger, since this film drags along at a pace that would make an average 80-year-old think, "Can't it be a bit faster?"

What remains. A skillfully made and acted film, worth watching. The '80s vibe is nice. But it's also a bit worn out since Stranger Things fueled the hype. So, 3 stars.
