La Perle plot
A young man buys a pearl for his betrothed. He walks out of the jewelry store which opens into a forest. He counts the pearls and realizes that one is missing, so he goes back to the store. There he sees a seductive saleswoman sitting on a display case with a raised skirt. On one of her stockings, close to the garter, another pearl necklace is tied. The young man takes it from her. Outraged, the jeweler fires the saleswoman, who runs off with the man. After this the pearl is lost, found and lost again.

A Belgian count who started filming ... and I read that he integrated himself into the world of film without having been of great significance, but still.
Except for the opening scene, "La Perle" seems to me to be one big, somewhat surrealistic dream with an erotic slant. Not only the stockings, with garter, and pearl are seductive, the package of the thief is also quite bold.
A special role is reserved for the betrothed who patiently waits and actually also dreams away.
Some call it a masterpiece and it is interesting to see it, but in terms of film fun I don't think it is a pearl.

I'm not 100% with the story. Is it some kind of cursed pearl that curses or hallucinates its wearer? I'm not sure. Surreal I read somewhere in terms of genre, well, I saw more horror elements in it. Well, of course in the context of about 100 years ago. A somewhat menacing mysterious music, without much fuss anyway. There was something ominous about that mysterious woman in the white robe who walked on the roof. Not all masterful, but still meritorious.
