Xime plot

Life in a village society just before the start of the armed struggle for independence (1963-1974) against Portuguese colonial rule. In the village of Xime there is optimism, because an abundant rice harvest is expected everywhere. Yet the widower Iala, father of Raul and Bedan, is concerned. The colonial authorities are looking for Raul, who is studying for the priesthood in Bissau. Bedan, the youngest son, challenges authority, bullies everything and everyone and falls in love with his father's betrothed.
