Wilderness plot
From the outside, Allie's life seems ideal: she is a doctor and lives with her teenage daughter and successful husband in a lavish modern house. But she sleeps on the couch, drinks one wine after another, has started smoking again—and is prone to making bad decisions and picking fights with anyone who crosses her path. After a serious car accident, Allie goes on the run. She hits the road, drinks heavily, and sets out with her faithful dog Stanley. Along the way, she unexpectedly runs into her estranged friend Kaz again, a sound recording engineer whose work documents environmental degradation.
