Mohamed Dhrif's phenomenal performance keeps you glued to the screen in this carefully constructed psychological family drama. Director Mohamed Ben Attia gets excellent acting from his inexperienced cast in this story about Riadh, a friendly, respected dock worker, who is worried about the severe migraine attacks of his son Sami, who is about to take his exams. When Sami appears to have left for Syria unannounced, Riadh does everything he can to bring his son back.

Ben Attia films the story entirely from the perspective of father Riadh and gives you as a viewer the time to get to know him and his life. Although this requires some patience, he creates understanding and sympathy for his main character and that makes the second half of the film extra compelling and moving. Singer Imen Cherif - the only member of the cast with some acting experience - also scores in an entertaining performance as Sami's earthy aunt who proposes her own solutions to Sami's 'problem'.

Mediocre film about a young man who flees to Syria to join the terrorist group Isis. The duo El Arbi-Fallach made a similar film with Rebel (Film, 2022), but this Tunisian production is only a pale imitation of it .

It starts with a strange subplot involving the dude's migraine attacks. I could not immediately determine whether that was the reason for the drastic decision to flee. Perhaps not because the motives of Syria fighters are usually different.

Things improve a bit when the father goes looking for his son, but it remains very bland. No hard raw edges. All very superficial. It didn't have enough impact to be really interesting. Here and there I had the feeling that the film was poorly edited. It looked confusing and illogical, whether it was some kind of dream state of the father, but still.

Psychological family drama about a desperate father who wants to save his son from the clutches of the jihadists. As Fisico already indicates, the editing is quite messy and that does not benefit the film.
