Vendetta plot
After the murder of a police chief in New Orleans, hundreds of Sicilians are arrested as possible suspects, 19 of whom are indicted, but only nine are ultimately charged. When none are effectively convicted, a disgruntled band of vigilantes takes the law into their own hands and commits the largest lynching in American history.
