Vanechka plot

17-year-old Nadezhda dreams of becoming an actress. She leaves for Moscow hoping to realize this dream and wants to study there at the Institute of Cinematography. She gets the chance to stay with them from some friends, and accepts this. The couple have a nine-month-old daughter, and Nadezhda babysits her as the couple moves their belongings to a larger apartment. But then the couple is killed in an accident that also involved gangsters, and Nadezhda is left alone with the baby.
