Vanda Teres plot

During the television broadcast “Rencontres impossibles”, Benjamin is confronted with a Japanese soldier, who has been living a hidden life in the Siamese jungle for years, not knowing that the war is over. This soldier was part of a group that refused to surrender in the 1946 Siam. It killed Benjamin's family, then a child, who owes his rescue to none other than the soldier in question, now blind and undermined by tropical diseases. Is this soldier a war criminal?
