Daisy lives in a remote province of the Philippines. Her father takes care of the circumcisions of the young men in the village. He is a drunk and abuses his wife and Daisy. This creates a deep-seated hatred in Daisy for all men. Her father forces Daisy to marry a man she doesn't want. Tradition has it that she will follow in her father's footsteps and in the future have to take care of the circumcisions in the village.
