Tsuma plot
Mihoko and Toichi Nakagawa have been married for ten years and the marriage is in limbo. Both are unhappy and know this about each other, but they don't talk about it, because they don't want to burden the three boarders who live with them. However, Mihoko does not want to think about divorce, because this carries a social stigma. The situation becomes further untenable when Toichi falls in love with his colleague Fusako Sagara.
