Trollsyn plot
1350, Norway. The Black Death roams ruthlessly among the fjords. To be spared from this terrible disease, the inhabitants of Jostedal, including Maren and her family, adhere to a strict rule. As long as the epidemic continues, friends or relatives from outside the village are not allowed to visit them. The young girl Maren goes into the mountains with her father. Her father leaves her there to look after the sheep as he heads north in search of his family. Meanwhile, a wedding is being held in the village. Unfortunately, one of the partygoers turns out to be infected. The plague breaks out and mows down everyone in Jostedal. When Maren returns home a few days later, she only finds her mother alive. This chases her daughter away with a stick to prevent infection. All summer long the girl lives among the dead and the wandering cattle. One day, five men come from the other side of the glacier into Jostedal. They manage to capture the feral Maren and take her to their village. There they discover that she has become clairvoyant.
