Toki Rakujitsu plot
Noguchi Shika, the wife of a farmer's layabout, gives birth to her son Seisaku in 1876. One day Seisaku falls into the fireplace when his mother is not there and badly burns his hand. He is soon bullied because of his deformed hand, but his mother continues to send him to school. There, the teacher Kobayashi Sakae soon draws attention to the clever boy. Sakae persuades Seisaku to have his hand operated on and, above all, to continue studying. Biography of Japanese microbiologist Hideyo Noguchi, who discovered the cause of syphilis.
