The Last Child plot

"The time: sometime in the future. Mrs. Miller is going to have a baby. But the law says she can't. The law says the world's overpopulated. Run, Mrs. Miller! Run!"

In a heavily overcrowded 1994, each couple is allowed to have only one child and people over 65 no longer receive health care. Young couple Alan (Michael Cole) and Karen Miller (Janet Margolin) have lost their first child shortly after birth. When a second child is on the way, they ask former US Senator Quincy Jones (Van Heflin) to help them flee to Canada. They are being chased by Agent Barstow (Edward Asner) of Population Control.
