The Enemy plot
"A vivid drama of Austria and one side of the war known only to the women."
Austria, 1910. Carl Behrend, the son of a wealthy businessman, marries Pauli, the daughter of the pacifist professor Arndt. When World War I breaks out, Carl is summoned. Pauli, her family and friends are left behind and suffer like any other civilian during the war. Pauli's situation worsens when her pacifist father is fired for teaching that war is bad. Then Pauli's father comes into a fierce conflict with Carl's father, which descends on Pauli and her family.
