The Dancing Years plot

1910. A small group of army officers arrive at an inn on the outskirts of Vienna. It is the home of Rudi Kleber, a gifted but impoverished composer. They ask him to play music while they eat. Rudi plays his own composition and the officers immediately bid against each other for its purchase, but a female voice outshines them all. It is Maria, the beautiful and brilliant star of the opera.
