The Broken Commandment plot

In 1906, during the Russo-Japanese War, the infamous caste system had already been dismantled. Yet minority groups are still treated as second-class citizens, including people of the Burakumin caste. An elementary school teacher hides his background as a burakumin from colleagues for fear of discrimination, but when he starts reading the work of a burakumin poet, his view of his own identity slowly changes.
