Tempest plot
In the waning days of Tsarist Russia, Ivan Markov, a former peasant, rises to the rank of lieutenant. His fellow officers, all of aristocratic descent, are not happy about this and they make his life miserable. Ivan falls in love with the princess Tamara. When Ivan is caught in Tamara's bedroom, he is demoted and even ends up in jail. New opportunities open up for Ivan when the Communists overthrow the Tsarist regime.
