Surviving plot

"It's summer, they're rich and beautiful, filled with passion, and headed for… tragedy."

Lonnie is a depressed teenager. Her family is broken when she tries to commit suicide. When this fails, she returns home. Yet nothing has changed. She still doesn't get any attention from her parents, one of the reasons for making the attempt. Then her neighbor Rick falls in love with her. For the first time in her life, someone cares about her and this is the beginning of an intense relationship. However, their family strongly disapproves of the relationship. Rick's parents don't want Rick hanging out with a depressed young lady, and Lonnie's parents think Rick is a bad influence on her after they catch her in bed with Rick. After Lonnie's parents try to send Lonnie to boarding school for her misbehavior, Rick is heartbroken. The relationship he has with Lonnie is all that matters to him. Lonnie only cares about Rick. When they realize they will probably never see each other again, they make a decision that will change the lives of their family forever.
