Stationschef Fallmerayer plot

Austria-Hungary. Adam Fallmerayer is the station head of a small station on the southern route. His life at the side of his wife and children is characterized by monotony. He dreams of a better and different life. When a train accident allows the beautiful Countess Anja Walewska to stay at his home for a few days, his wish seems to have come true. But the Russian noblewoman returns to her husband in Rome, and Fallmerayer is left with only a thank you note.
