Slander plot

When Richard Tremaine falls in love with Helene, his lawyer's wife, he decides to ruin her marriage. By forging a letter, he convinces her husband, John Blair, that she is cheating on him. John insists on a divorce, after which a distraught Helene agrees to marry Richard. Before the wedding, however, she discovers that he already has a wife, and that it was he who destroyed her marriage. To take revenge, she tricks Richard's son, Joseph, into falling in love with her.
