Sabbatical plot
Growing up under apartheid, Doris was determined that her daughter Lesego would have access to the opportunities of a new ‘free’ South Africa. Eager to live up to her mother’s expectations and aware of what was at stake, Lesego left the small town of Thorntree in Pretoria to build a new life in bustling Johannesburg. But a suspicious work incident forces her back to her mother’s house – paying for it herself. Although Doris is secretly relieved to finally see her ‘perfect’ daughter again, Lesego’s presence threatens their already strained relationship.
