Riot at the Rite plot
On May 19, 1913, Stravinsky's 'Sacre du printemps' is performed before an eminent audience, including Picasso, Proust, Cocteau, Gertrude Stein, Ravel and Debussy. The orchestra struggles with Stravinsky's (Aidan McArdle) modern music and not all dancers of Les Ballets Russes are happy with Nijinsky's ballet. Much is expected of dancer-choreographer Vaslav Nijinksy (Adam Garcia) after previous successes (and controversies), but the audience of the Théâtre de Champs-Elysées gets quite overheated that evening. The premiere is in utter chaos and it looks set to become one of the most scandalous events in art history.
