Return plot

Damascus, spring 2013. Husam is an ordinary Syrian soldier visiting his family in Damascus during a 24-hour leave. He is sitting in the kitchen, enjoying his mother's company and food after a long absence, but there is a lump in his throat. He wants to open his heart to his mother and tell her what he really feels: that he is fighting for a group of corrupt and criminal people. He wants to tell her that he is afraid of death and that he wants to escape military service, but his mother insists on describing him as the hero who fights for his country and the honor of his family.
