Perth plot

"the dream of a simple man"

Even though he looks older, Harry Lee has only just turned fifty and is already dreaming of his retirement. He dreams of Perth, that quietest town of all the quietest towns in Australia. However, his financial situation does not allow him to leave Singapore. His retirement seems even further removed from him as he loses his job as a security guard. Moreover, he drags a sometimes shrouded past behind him. He lives separated from his wife, whom he allegedly abused. His son, who did succeed in life, is actually ashamed of his father and wants nothing to do with him. Lee becomes a taxi driver to save for his dream. He drives call girls to their clients. The confrontation with a seedy milieu, with violence, brings out old traumas. His erratic behavior regularly gets him into trouble.
