Parrish McLean (Donahue) lives with his mother Ellen (Colbert) on the Sala Post (Dean Jagger) tobacco plantation in the Connecticut River Valley. When Ellen decides to marry Sala's villainous rival Judd Raike (Malden), the rivalry between the two only intensifies. Parrish must intervene before the situation spirals out of control.
