Portuguese environmental engineer Sergio travels to Guinea-Bissau to draw up an environmental impact report for a road construction project. In the heat and isolation, he meets the inhabitants Diara and Guillermhe. A complex relationship develops between the three. Sergio also notices the capitalist and postcolonial motives behind the surrounding events. Details about the mysterious disappearance of his predecessor also gradually emerge.
