Nur eine Frau plot
Louise grew up in a middle-class family in Meissen. Her father is a highly respected lawyer. It is only when she visits her brother-in-law that she is confronted with the misery of the factory workers. Her pity and indignation at this exploitation make her take sides. But her increasing interest in social and political problems is met with incomprehension in her bourgeois society. She consistently rejects all her family's attempts to make her rich. She also declines the offer of a rich nobleman. She starts as a writer at a newspaper to provide for her own income. Then she meets a young teacher who is like-minded.
