My Name Is Leon plot
Set in the 1980s, the story follows a nine-year-old mixed-race boy, Leon, who has been removed from home and is on a mission to bring his family back together. Told through Leon's eyes, we follow his journey, full of energy and hope despite the hardships he faces, and witness the touching relationship between him and his foster mother Maureen. Not the tearjerker I expected. It is rather the observation of a little boy, who, after being separated from his mother and baby brother, tries to survive in an adult world of which he understands little. The performance of the young Cole Martin in the title role comes across as very natural.
