Ten years after their mother [Mai Kiryû] ended their lives, Yumiko [Haruka Igawa] and her younger brother Ren [Kodai Kurosaki] live together in Tokyo and work in a flower shop. During a delivery round, Ren discovers that their father [Kenichi Endo], a famous architect who left them 7 years ago, has an office in the city. This offers an opportunity to discuss old frustrations and grief, but Yumiko, in particular, is reluctant. Yuiga dedicates this to the city and to his own mother. That explains why there are so many inserts of random passersby in various locations in Tokyo holding up the already meager story. Almost every spoken sentence is followed by a long pause, and ultimately, it is barely possible to make sense of it. Well-acted, but extremely boring. Unless you can't get enough of Tokyo street scenes.

A typical debut. Clearly autobiographical and very personal. Raw in the sense of unbalanced and sometimes shifting in style and color, and even the core of the film is not fixed. It jumps from essayistic documentary elements to a fictional film about loss that then shifts from realism to surrealism and has various angles. It extends the theme of loss to the entire city of Tokyo, where places are also being lost. I found it extremely fascinating in its unbalance and its ambition. I almost gave it an even higher rating, but that would be an exaggeration. The director is a talent that I hope will mature, but he won't make run-of-the-mill films.
