Marathon plot

Gretchen turns out to have a rather compulsive personality. Within twenty-four hours she must solve seventy-seven puzzles to prove that she is 'all she can be'. The puzzling takes place underground and above ground, as Gretchen concentrates best when surrounded by traffic noise. Although she seeks out the crowds and people, she remains an outsider who does not make contact with her surroundings.
